TEACHING IN FRANCE

In France, to be able to teach diving you need to obtain the Diplôme d’Etat, delivered by the government.  The most common Diplômes d’Etat for teaching diving are the Brevet Professionnel de la Jeunesse, de l’Education Populaire et du Sport (BPJEPS) or the Diplôme d’Etat de la Jeunesse, de l’Education Populaire et du Sport (DEJEPS).

To obtain a Diplôme d’Etat as a diving Instructor you can minimise the time passed at a CREPS by passing a Federal Diploma.  This will give you a partial equivalence.

Once you’ve obtained the diploma, Instructors can teach in dive centres, holiday resorts, dive schools or training centres.  Diving Instructors can equally work as Independent Instructors and offer their services directly to private clients.

The salary of a diving instructor in France is between €1,500 and €2,500 net per month, according to experience, qualifications and assumed responsibilities.
